Technology is making a great impact on a core IP duty, which is collection, analysis, and utilization of data. With increasing dependence on health information technology, there continue to be significant changes in how these data are obtained, maintained, analyzed and utilized, including new definitions that support algorithmic detection of infections, electronic file upload capabilities for infection reporting, data assessment, screen-testing and surveillance systems, IT terminology, and validating and maintaining data systems for infection prevention.
