Recent studies on SARS-CoV-19 bioaerosolsĀ underscore the need for airborne precautions for the protection of patients and caregivers during the pandemic. Virus-laden bioaerosols can be less than 5 microns in diameter, linger in poorly ventilated spaces for prolonged periods, and be inhaled deeper into the lungs than larger respiratory droplets. Cleaning the air environment in healthcare facilities can help lower aerosol transmission.
