Background: Effective skin cleansing plays an essential role in preventing healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs) and promoting positive outcomes. Traditionally, soap and water have been the go-to choice for keeping patients clean. But now, there are more options available.

Purpose: Cleansers with chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) can be more effective than soap and water because CHG binds to the skin and provides prolonged antimicrobial benefits, even after rinsing.

Indications: CHG is one component found in many bathing products used for patient care and decolonization. What about the other ingredients, their cleansing ability, and their impact to the skin? This third-party study set out to test the cleansing ability of HibiClens vs. a competing private label alternative. In test after test, HibiClens showed its superior ability to break down dirt and oil compared to the private label alternative.
